Umeda Sky Building | View from The Floating Garden Observatory | View from The Floating Garden Observatory |
Located in the fashion-leading area, Umeda, New Umeda City is a complex of the Umeda Sky Building and the Westin Hotel. Built in March 1993, New Umeda City is a new attraction of Osaka, Japan. The building features a rooftop observatory, The Floating Garden Observatory, as well as the Takimi-koji restaurant mall which can be found on the first basement floor. New Umeda City attracts 300 million people to enjoy sightseeing, shopping and events every year.
Opened in 1993 and named one of the world's top 20 buildings, the Sky Building resembles a 40-storey, space-age Arc de Triomphe. The 173 meter tall building consists of two main towers which are connected with each other by the "Floating Garden Observatory" on the 39th floor.
The Umeda Sky Building’s Sky Garden Observatory offers the best view of the city, day or night. You can see all of Osaka as well as Awaji Island from the Observation Deck, while directly feeling the wind at 170 meters off the ground. The observatory is out under the open sky and can be cold at night, so be prepared. On your way up to the observatory, you will ride a free hanging escalator surrounded by a glass tube that adds to the unique style of the tower. The observation deck will use black lights which will make your cloths come out as different colors and make for some interesting pictures. Remember to walk all the way around the Umeda Sky Building’s observation deck to take it all in.
